Too often do people begin their day with a breakfast that is either nutritionally deficient, laden with sugar and fat, or they decide to skip breakfast entirely, which countless of studies have shown leads to weight gain. Never have I encountered a published study that has said skipping breakfast to save calories for later has lead to sustained weight loss.
The trick is a nutrient rich breakfast filled with fiber that will sustain you until lunch. This powerhouse of a breakfast is flavored with super foods and is sweetened with stevia to limit excess sugar intake. Enjoy!
Ingredients:
1 cup of water
3 tbsp chia seeds
2 tbsp hemp seeds
1/2 tbsp lucuma powder
1 tbsp mesquite powder
15 drops of stevia
pinch of sea salt
1/2 tbsp Catie’s Fiber Plus
1/2 cup of ice
Directions:
Now, the steps to make this bowl may seem tedious, but I assure you that they will pay off in the end. Just three easy steps.
First, you will want to place the first 7 ingredients in the blender, all except for the fiber and ice. Blend on high for about 1 to 2 minutes, until a cream consistency is made. This is when you should do any flavor modifications because once you add the ice you don’t want to over blend. It may be a little too sweet right now but the fiber will absorb some of the sweetness. The second step is to add the fiber and blend until the mix is pretty gelatinous, almost a doughy consistency. The final step is to add your ice and blend on high until smooth. Pour into an oatmeal bowl and make sure to top with fresh fruit and a few tablespoons of raw granola, nuts, or even bee pollen! Enjoy!
